Beware of fake buyers!

Please be on your alert when someone sends you a WhatsApp text saying that he wants to buy your used products from gumtree or facebook. He claims that he is interested to buy your used products and negotiate with you then said that there will be an agent to pick up those things from you.

He said he will transfer the money to you and ask for your Name, Bank Account, Email address and Residential address for the pick up.

Then he will ask you to check your email for a confirmation receipt from ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND ( - this is definitely not from the bank). This email mentioned that in order for me to receive my payment, I need to pay $200 first then the money will be released. Below are the details of the email from the "bank":

"The transfer has been approved and the funds have been debited from the buyer's account, You may see him make an additional payment ($200 SGD) which is the agent's fee. In the other into your account, you only have to pay the money to the account details that will be sent to you and scan your payment receipt back to us...."

The guy insisted that he transferred the money and asked me to follow the procedure to complete the whole transaction. Please note that there is no such practice in banks and this is an obvious SCAM.

Do aware of such people sending WhatsApp message especially those from an overseas number.
